1. Application

K18 Coal hopper wagon is mainly used for transporting bulk goods like coal and ore. It could be used in power station, ports, coal selection sites, steel factory, and other enterprises with fixed marshaling, recycling and fixed site loading and unloading. This wagon is suitable for on-site use where there are coal unloading ditches or high stacking platforms on the ground. The coals could be unloaded on both sides quickly by pneumatic or manually.

2. Main structures

K18 coal wagon is open top hopper wagon, which is mainly composed of wagon body, bottom door opening and closing mechanism, air brake device, chassis accessories, coupler buffer device, bogies and etc.

• Wagon body

Wagon body is all welded structure, composed of chassis, side wall, end wall, funnels, rain eaves, hand rails, and etc.

• Bottom doors open and close mechanism:

The bottom door opening and closing device adopts a two-stage transmission and top lock mechanism, manually operated, consisting of an upper transmission device, connecting rod, lower crank, lower transmission shaft, double lever, long and short top rods, and left and right lock bodies.
The vehicle adopts a top lock opening and closing mechanism to switch four bottom doors on both sides, with a two-stage locking device to ensure absolute reliability of the bottom door locking when the vehicle is in motion. The conversion between air and manual control mechanisms is controlled by shifting the toothed clutch with a fork. The diameter of the handwheel is 500mm.
The air control pipeline device consists of control valves, air supply adjustment valves, air storage tanks, air meters, valves, and air ducts

It adopts K2 type 3 piece casting bogie.
The material of bolster and side frame is B-grade cast steel. The main friction plate of the composite wedge is made of polymer composite material, and the wedge body is made of bainitic ductile iron. The material of the side frame column wear plate is 45 steel, and the sliding groove wear plate is T10. The bogie adopts two-stage stiffness springs. Using a lower center disk plate with a diameter of φ 355mm, the lower center disk is equipped with a conductive center plate wear disc. It installs 197726 compact bearings, RD2 axles, and LM wear type tread HDZB cast steel, HDSA rolled steel wheels. The basic braking device adopts an austenitic ductile iron lining and a combined braking beam. The braking beam frame is connected to the brake shoe support with steel rivets.
